Fandango makes the top of the list because of its simplicity, yet feature rich content. It had a background that can be changed very easily
which is an excellent tool for advertising movies. Buttons and graphics are simple and sleek, and everything on the site has a purpose. The
makers of this site regularly use customer feedback to tell them what they like and don't like. Everything has a purpose and it shows.
Kiva.org is another site that combines simplicity with functionality. The site looks great, and it could be done on a budget. With charitable
organizations there is no money to waste, yet I love their site! It has dynamic features integrated using PHP where needed. Everything weaves together so well!
If you are looking for something very artistic, check these out. Pay special attention to the graphics themselves, and the placement of everything on the site.
Art marries functionality in a good website. We can incorporate just about any inspiration into your website.
I love when website look wide and open. The feeling that something is cramped or overcrowded is not one you want your viewers to have.
This website has some simple food graphics, and most of it is done at the top and the footer. The actual body is very simple. I think
this is unique and beautifully done. Note the animation are done in flash, but similar graphics could be done as static images.
I really should quit advertising for other graphich designers, but we all stand on the shoulders of giants. On this portfolio site
crudely cut out images are superimposed on a beautiful background. Lots of the things on here are hand drawn. Also not the photography that is peppered everywhere.
Photos make a site look great, and are easily integrated.
Here is an example of clean lines, simplicity, and function. Also this is a great resource for reading about web development, if you are interested.
One thing I don't like is the left aligned page. Most modern pages are centered, and for good reason.
There are a few important branding rules to consider with your website. Keeping to your color scheme is one of them. Notice how well
the black and grey contrast with the yellow. The site is simple and appealing. For even more effects on sites like this we can use
two color on one button, or use gradients selectively.

Social networking and social medial have made a big splash lately. You can add this widget and let customers do some of your advertizing for you.
It's easy to incorporate onto the site, and supports around 150 social media services. Viewers can also use this widget to bookmark your site with ease.
ECOMMERCE SYSTEMS
If you want to sell something on your website, but you don't want to make your whole site an ecommerce site this is a good option. You can
integrate Mal's into an existing site without it "taking over." This system is free, and it offers Paypal integration. You can even use their
SSL server which lets your customers make secure purchases. Buying your own SSL certificate could be expensive, so this is a great feature.
OSCommerce is the most highly customizable shopping cart out there. It's free and easy to use. Shopping cart systems like this one
track sales, inventory, products, and lets you run specials. If you are selling stuff online this is a great option.
Template Monstereven offers templates you can purchase for OSCommerce.
Zencart is another great shopping cart system. If for some reason OSCommerce doesn't work for you, or if you find a template for this system
you like, give it a try. It's also free.
